I can't believe we haven't seen this yet. The new R's have been out for a couple months now and I haven't seen a real comparison yet. My cousin bought a 450R and another friend bought a new DS. The DS would blow the 450 away, especially in top end power and speed. The airbox lid and muffler plug were pulled from the 450 and it woke up nicely. I'm going to the dunes on the May Long weekend, so I'll get some seat time on the R for sure, and maybe a few other racers. I should have a good impression of where the new R stands with respect to the other machines out there as far as sand riding goes anyway. Looking forward to it.... :atv: --SWAMP DONKEY-- **Currently on Disabled List - undergoing rebuild #3** 97 Honda Foreman, 450 Top End, Web cam,Dirty Howies Diff Locker, Maxxis Rubicons, Custom lift kit, Custom Shock Spacers, 2000 lb Warn Winch, Custom S.S bash plate and CV guards, Kimpex Foot guards,Custom bush bumper,12V outlet, Hot Grips, Uni Filter, Gun boot mounts, snorkled GO HARD - GO DEEP http://community.webshots.com/user/taren110

Swampy - I don't doubt the power of your R and I can't say too much since I haven't even ridden one yet. All I'm doing is believing what I've been told. My cousin was used to riding his highly modified 250R and then his XL600 in the 250R frame before this quad so he may be a little biased as he is used to having big power. He said when he was riding with the guy who has the new stock DS that he was in fifth nearly full out and the DS was just shifting into fifth. It seemed like he was nearly a gear slower. I can't comment too much until the end of May when I'll get some seat time. I don't doubt the speed and power of the 450, I'm just curious if it lives up to all the hype. I hope it does. --SWAMP DONKEY-- 97 Honda Foreman, 450 Top End 0.050 over, Web cam,Dirty Howies Diff Locker, Maxxis Rubicons, Custom lift kit, Custom Shock Spacers, 2000 lb Warn Winch, Custom S.S bash plate and CV guards, Kimpex Foot guards,Custom bush bumper,12V outlet, Hot Grips, Uni Filter, Gun boot mounts, snorkled GO HARD - GO DEEP http://community.webshots.com/user/taren110

The difference in cc's is minor. The Yammy has a larger bore but a shorter stroke. The longer stroke on the Honda accounts for the extra cc's Displacement= #of cylinders x bore surface area x stroke. --SWAMP DONKEY-- 97 Honda Foreman, 450 Top End 0.050 over, Web cam,Dirty Howies Diff Locker, Maxxis Rubicons, Custom lift kit, Custom Shock Spacers, 2000 lb Warn Winch, Custom S.S bash plate and CV guards, Kimpex Foot guards,Custom bush bumper,12V outlet, Hot Grips, Uni Filter, Gun boot mounts, snorkled GO HARD - GO DEEP http://community.webshots.com/user/taren110

IF EVERYTHING else is the same the larger cc engine usualy has more HP, but that is not always the case. 1985 250 Big Red 3 wheler 1986 Honda TRX 250R 1999 Foreman 450ES 1999 400EX 2001 Rancher S 4X4 2001 F250 Powerstroke 6 speed 4X4 extended cab PICTURES
