A Race-Inspired, Pure-Sport ROV That’s Made in America!
Inspired by the unforgiving terrain of the Baja 1000, engineered to attack the gnarliest obstacles with precision and control, and crafted in America by a company dedicated to performance and quality, the all-new Arctic Cat Wildcat V-Twin 1000H.O. debuts as the most potent pure-sport recreational off-road vehicle (ROV) ever built. With industry-leading suspension travel, 13 inches of ground clearance, a full-perimeter frame and the largest displacement engine in its class, the Wildcat is a full-production version of what was previously reserved for off-road race vehicles. “The Wildcat has no equal. Period,” said Claude Jordan, Arctic Cat President and CEO. “Our customers asked for a high-performance side-by side, and we happily responded with a no-compromise, pure-sport hot rod that redefines what’s possible with a production off-road vehicle.”
SUSPENSION
Ultimate Long Travel TheWildcat can effortlessly hammer through whoops and dunes thanks to a front and rear suspension combination that rivals those used on off-road race buggies. At the rear is an industry-first 5-pointmulti-link trailing arm suspension that keeps the tires’ contact patches flat while the suspension moves through its industry-leading 18 inches of travel. The unique 5-pointmulti-linkminimizes camber and axle plunge to soak up the harshest terrain without compromising handling and steering.
Featuring an EFI-fed, 976cc V-Twin power plant, next-generation chassis, improved suspension and enhanced ergonomics, BRP’s Can-Am Renegade 1000 is now, even more so, the king of the sport 4x4 category. The machine’s unique blend of sport and utility trail manners along with its superb power-to-weight ratio and acceleration makes it the most impressive 4x4 ATV on the planet.
Using Computer-aided Vehicle Dynamics (CAVD) software, Can-Am engineers took an innovative approach to all aspects of the chassis of this new-generation Renegade ATV. The goal, bring the knowledge of new-wave geometries gained through years of testing that would challenge traditional thinking in the off-road world. The result are principles of design we call Geometric Contact Control. This allows the chassis of the next-generation Renegade to perform at the top of the sport 4x4 world, yet enhance the overall comfort of the vehicle at all levels of riding.
Being the 10th anniversary of ATV Nation's "National Ride" or as we jokingly titled it this year, our "Inter-National Ride" we wanted to do something special, different, out of the box. Granted there are all sorts of trail systems we could have chosen for this years ride and had a great time with great friends. Instead of choosing the basic trail riding system, we made the decision to venture out where the world is pretty much yours to explore and enjoy. Going to Canada took some effort, passports/passcards needed to be ordered and the distance, considering the price of fuel, put a dent in attendee's pocket book. But even with that, the call to be adventurous and heading out into the bush of Northeast Canada would not be denied!
Inevitably, when those that attended this years ride tell folks about their trip to Canada, the first question is "How was the fishing?" I'm happy to report my reply is, "I have no idea", as there is so much more to Canada than just fishing.
Our lodging was set on the shores of Sidney Creek, a branch which feeds into the Montreal River, the largest river in Canada. Our host, Jenn and Bruce, owners of Golden Eagle Camp and outfitters could not have been more accommodating. Quite frankly, they felt like part of the group and even jumped in for some seat time on the trails, a first in all our years of having National rides.
The lodging was very comfortable with a rustic feel that served the lifestyle of our group perfectly. Cell service was available; you just need to find the proper location to pick up a bar or two. Internet was also available near the office for those that needed to check emails or take a quick browse on the internet. A number of evenings were spent at the camp fire pit, which looks over Sidney Creek. One of the evenings, those at the campfire were treated to fresh deep fried chicken wings and French fries with Finn's (a local, longer term member of ATV Nation) special wing sauce. Thanks Finn and Mrs. Finn for spoiling us the way you did!
